CC-CEDICT is the open Chinese–English dictionary behind many Chinese learning apps and sites. C+DICT gives every one of its definitions in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Thai.
Until now, a developer had two options: translate CC-CEDICT, or license a paid dictionary. C+DICT is the third option, free and open. Learners get explanations in their own language. Developers get the file format they already read. An app that reads CC-CEDICT can speak eight more languages the same day.

Strengths
- All 124,769 entries, with every sense of each one. Long entries keep their full length; none is cut down to a one-word gloss.
- The characters, the pinyin, the classifiers and the cross-references are copied from CC-CEDICT as they are.
- Every entry of every file is checked for its format, its count, cut-off text and leftover English. Korean had a second, full review.
- Code that reads CC-CEDICT reads C+DICT, with no changes.
Keep in mind
- The definitions are machine translations.
- The translations start from the English. 橘子 is "tangerine" in CC-CEDICT, so the Japanese file says タンジェリン, where many speakers would say みかん.
- The word list is CC-CEDICT's, as of the last release. A word missing there is missing here.
- It is a study tool. Legal or medical work needs a second source.
